Neural Classification of Snoring Sounds for the Detection of Oral Breathing during Snoring
Healthy people are generally breathing through nose during sleep, but oral breathing will be given rise to if the nasal cavity is gradually being closed. Nasal closure or even nasal congestion leads to open mouth during snoring, which causes the tongue base collapse, the origin of OSAS. Thus, if a simple home device with only a microphone can automatically monitor our snores at bedside and dete...
متن کاملSigns of Upper Airway Collapsibility in Snoring Sounds
We have shown that snoring fundamental frequency (F0) contours have an oscillating pattern in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) as compared to the relatively smoother pattern in simple snorers. This points to the underlying upper airway instability and collapsibility in OSA. The 2 patterns were classified by 75% accuracy.
متن کاملThe Influence of Anthropometric Characteristics on Kinematic Parameters of Children's Sprinter's Running.
Children's sprinters running differs from the adults' one primarily in their motoric abilities, anthropometric characteristics, physiological and biochemical characteristics, as well as psychological and sociological characteristics. This research's aim was to examine the influence of anthropometric characteristics on kinematic parameters of children's sprinter's running. The sample of variable...
متن کاملStatistical Approach for Sounds Modeling
This article introduces a mathematical approach to extracting some statistical parameters from noise-like sounds. This approach could define a new spectral model or extend existing ones to analyze and synthesize such complex sounds. In the future, this method could also permit electro-acoustic composers to make musical transformations. We have performed several synthesis tests with synthetic an...
متن کاملStatistical models for natural sounds
It is important to understand the rich structure of natural sounds in order to solve important tasks, like automatic speech recognition, and to understand auditory processing in the brain. This thesis takes a step in this direction by characterising the statistics of simple natural sounds. We focus on the statistics because perception often appears to depend on them, rather than on the raw wave...
